New Hulk Koto!

6C8FA65B-AFD2-4EC2-AC61-EA0E151AD9DD

Koto is trying their hand at 1/10 statues . They look decent enough but word is they are averaging about $150/$160 per.  That’s a pretty lofty price to pay.  I would like to see everything in hand before making my ultimate judgement – but I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the look of the Hulk’s face or spiky hair

No lie, these look so good!  I’m stoked to get these pieces into the collection!  Hopefully Marvel has learned from the disastrous MCU10 line not to price these figures into the stratosphere!

I have resisted reviewing issues of the new Hulk book for a while now.  Too many times in this blog’s history I would review the latest issue of the Hulk only to be disappointed and give a depressingly sad review.  I am happy to say that the current series is not only fantastic but a hell of a ride that everyone seems to be enjoying!  I will most likely be posting my reviews the Friday after the issue comes out in order to give people time to catch up and as to not give out spoilers on release day – which I think is unfair.

So, Hulk is in hell.  I mean, not hell but literal Hell!  Bruce Banner’s father, using Langkowski – or Sasquatch – to get close to Hulk and then manipulating Crusher Creel, the Absorbing Man, to use his absorbing powers to open the door to hell while also depower the Hulk was a stroke of genius.  Unfortunately, they are dealing with the Hulk here – an entity so powerful he has been able to survive death many times over.

Of course, at the moment it seems as though Brian Banner finally has his son on the ropes.  The Hulk is looking as sickly as he did when the Madman almost brought him to death and he’s surrounded by all sorts of horrifying demons!  Thankfully Rick Jones is there – wait, did Rick die?  When did that happen?  Where was I?  Someone help me out here please!  Anyways, Rick is there in hell – looking… not so hot, but he is able to summon his alter ego A-Bomb to try and give the Hulk a bit of backup.

CCI02122019_0002 (2)

I never thought I’d be so happy to see A-Bomb or any part of that Hulk history – but for some reason I was all excited to see Rick turn into the big blue turd!  Unfortunately for all involved Rick isn’t as much help as he’d like to be as he is torn apart by the demons.  Hulk isn’t fairing much better until Creel, aided by Alpha Flight’s Puck, realizes what has happened.  Creel is nobodies patsy and sets out to make things right.

Instead of facing off against Brian Banner, instead Creel returns the stolen gamma power to the Hulk.  This, of course, gives the Jade Giant all the strength he needs to take on any nasty baddie his father throws at him!  With the Hulk’s never quit attitude and the aide of a classic thunder clap the Hulk decimates the demons and his father!  Now the Hulk faces his biggest challenge.  Trying to be nice to his other half who lays on the ground in the fetal position.

The Hulk and has this to say:

It’s really quite touching and in a way it’s the heart that’s been missing in the Hulk books for quite a while.  We end the issue with everyone returning from hell and Puck offering Creel a position on something they are calling “Gamma Flight”.  Sounds interesting enough.  Then we land in California where a sleepy Betty Ross picks up the phone on what she thinks is a crank call until Bruce finally squeaks out her name and asks to come home.  Apparently he called from the last phone booth known to exist in the US:

I have been loving this series and am all too happy to see Hulk’s supporting cast starting to make heir way into the book!  If you are not reading this series or have been hesitant to pick it up should absolutely do so!  It’s a wild ride I hope does not end anytime soon!

Villains:
    • Absorbing Man
    • Brian Banner
    • Hell Demons
