When Disney announced a new toy line with stylized figures I eagerly awaited the Hulk. I don’t think anyone was disappointed by what was delivered to our local Disney Shops. A bit later we were given the repaint Grey Hulk – but with a new head sculpt! I was excited as I love the original figure – but at the same time that the Grey Hulk was released it was also announced that there would be a 2-pack – Hulkbuster vs Hulk!
I could tell right away that this Green Hulk was both different AND the same! While it is a different head sculpt than the first offering it’s actually the recently released Grey Hulk repainted green. I knew I wanted this but I was also a bit hesitant as I didn’t want to pay for the same figure twice! Even if they are different colors. Thankfully, my sister decided this was the perfect gift to get for me for Christmas this year – and even better, I had totally forgotten about it! The best part is the light up feature and sound effects that the Hulkbuster boasts. That, and the tiny little Tony head that is present under the huge Iron Man helmet!
A purchase from the Disney Store, I bring you this sort of appropriately ugly Hulk plush! There are quite a few Hulk plushes out there and I really don’t bother picking up all of them. They have to either be extremely unique OR be very affordable. This is of both! Let’s not completely ignore the hilariously overlarge nose and fantastic fuzzy hair – but this plush comes with threaded nipples!
Who puts threaded nipples on a plush? Well, apparently Disney does! The other neat thing is that this plush has some articulation. The arms rotate around – and while that’s it, that’s enough! He also features humongous “big foot” feet that really ties the whole character together! The last piece is that this $30 plush was on sale when I picked it up for a very sweet $10. Sale seems to be over now…
Last year or so we were gifted a new Hulk figure from The Disney Store. An exclusive, stylized figure that was a really nice surprise. Now we are given another surprise that hits all the right marks! It is the new Toy Box Hulk – this time a ceremonial Grey Hulk – that sports a new head sculpt. A screaming, rage filled Grey Hulk! There are a few things that really make these figures exciting to own but first let’s get into how well this piece is made.
Both the Grey and the Green Hulk are substantial figures with a good amount of weight to them. They have 8 points of articulation with full motion of the shoulders and waist. While the paint apps are pretty standard and flat they still compliment what is essentially a cartoon come to life. I do appreciate the slight greenish color they add to his eyes to make you remember of the other furious personality bubbling under the surface.
I sort of wish they would have given us a new color with the pants – a blue would be more appropriate – but I understand why that would have been more difficult seeing as they re-used the body of the green counterpart. It still comes with the bent pipe accessory that the green figure did. Overall, I’d say this figure is worth the pick up. An exclusive to the Disney Store the only way to get these beauties are in store or on the website. Did anyone else get one of these figures? What do you think? Leave a comment below and let’s discuss!
Now, I am a sucker for anything Hulk – but I also try to be a savvy shopper! This is a piece I came across at the Disney Store when picking up the large (and in charge) talking Hulk. I thought “oh cool! Amother piece to add to the collection!” And then I looked at the price. I was expecting something along the lines of $5-7. I was off… way off! It was $14.99. I couldn’t really justify that kind of price for what was essentially a light up toy on par with this $5 wand. It’s too bad too because I did think it was cool.
Two Hulk figurines are on the shelves right now exclusive to different stores. Toys R Us has a 3 pack with Thor and Iron Man but also includes the Hulk you see above and right below. I like it as he has small crumbling brick wall that he has just demolished. Like he just lost a hand in Texas Hold’em where he was dealt pocket aces. I also thinks he looks a bit like Ben Stein from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off:
The other figurine is one of the better Hulk figurines as it is massive! Compared to the other characters in the set, Iron Man, Vision, Ms Marvel, Cap and Ultron, Hulk is absolutely ginormous. It’s worth the pick up just to get this Hulk so that you can have a whole shelf of smalls that look like this:
This Hulk is a classic looking piece with a decent sculpt and decent paint job. I mean, I’m not going to say it’s perfect – but it’s what you’d expect to get in a multi-pack. This set is available at the Disney Store so go out and get it… and have a magical day!
I will begin this post with a warning – not every Disney Store is carrying these monsters! I pass on this knowledge to all of you out there because in my early years of collecting I would have made the 50 mile trip to the closest Disney store only to find out that these toys are exclusive to Disney Outlet stores (that’s 40 miles from me in the opposite direction). Luckily, I called first and was informed to call the outlet store – which I did.
I was told by the Disney Outlet store that they had three talking Hulks left and that they would certainly hold one for me. They closed the phone call by telling me to have a “magical day”. You know, it kind of made me smile… so it sort of worked! Thanks flamboyant Disney Store employee!
This figure is massive! Absolutely humongous and ginormous! Added bonus, it talks! It’s beginning to impress me with all these figures just how differently they are sculpted but still embody the Hulk. This one reminds me of the art of Arthur Adams. With a bit of Gamma-irradiated plaque:
All in all, I tell you, some of the Hulk figures I could do without – but this is a great addition to any Hulk collection! Easily one of the most impressive Hulk figures I’ve seen in a long while! Grade: A
