There is something adorable and awe inspiring about the reach of Funko’s licenses. They have everything from John Hughes movies to horror classics to Star Wars and DC. It’s staggering to see the TV series, video games and more all sculpted into little pieces of plastic. They have been creating more and more – including this mug – based off their sculpts for the Marvel Pop figures. While it is fun and unique they seemed to have a very poor paint application. You can see sloppy brush strokes that are very distracting. It’s not expensive (and I’m a sucker for Hulk Head mugs) but there are certainly better mugs to spend your money on.
If you know me personally then you know I do not have many vices – other than my love for the Hulk 🙂 I don’t drink coffee or soda and I don’t really need caffeine to rule my morning attitude. But that does not stop me from picking up every Hulk mug I can get my grubby little hands on! The first (Above) is an image that has certainly been making the rounds – the winking Hulk – a Trimpe image from the early days. Both sides of the cup are adorned with Hulk’s face. The second (below… duh!) is one that is popping up here and there and comes straight from, not a Hulk issue, but Fantastic Four #111 – the precursor to the very famous Hulk vs Thing battle of FF #112!
The other side has the cool Incredible Hulk logo!
Hulk Mug – they are getting the most out of this Trimpe illustration!
I really wish I could find some time to post more – but right now – this week and next posts will be pretty spare. Sorry ahead of time – but there quite a few things in the works and I am having trouble finding time to even check in right now – let alone post! I know issue #9 hits the stands tomorrow… I will really try to free up time to review that – and trust me I have a whole lot of great pieces to show off – so thanks for your patience guys! Thanks for always checking in! I found this ceramic mug in Framingham at Rubber Chicken Comics – there was only one Hulk in a sea of Cap and Spidey mugs so I felt lucky being able to find this! That’s about it for now – I will try to post the review and maybe the Bowen Fixit statue review the rest of this week! Later guys!
I like this mug because it tells a little story with it. The Hulk is throwing this boulder at the tank. Maybe the tank attacked first – but we can only assume that. Maybe the person in the tank told an off-color joke about his mother and Hulk can’t have that – so hence, the boulder. There has to be at the very least 6 different reasons for Hulk to throw that boulder at the tank. Just come up with your favorite and go with it…
