This past week I turned another decade older. I hit middle age and spent the day in NJ at one of my favorite places, Zapp Comics. Many pics will follow of my adventures there – but until then I will showcase a couple of gifts I recieved. These two mugs may look the same but there are subtle differences including the white lip at the top and a lighter shade of green. They are also different sculpts – even if you can hardly tell by a quick glance. One is a Marvel licensed photo – the other is a “Big Mouth” green fist mug. Try to guess which is which before scrolling down to see the answer below.
I really hope one day to throw a dinner party where I invite all the Hulk collectors I know and we can use all these glasses I have been collecting all these years! Toon Tumblers showed Marvel that glasses can be collectibles too – so they have started to release sets in the past few years. This Marvel 4-Glasses Set ($19.99, 2012) has smaller, or at least thinner glasses, and they feature Cap, Spidey, Hulk and Wolvie. They are really nice – but nothing seems to stand up to the quality that the Toon Tumblers do. I must say though… I do love the classic image they used this time – how many years was that in the corner of every Hulk issue we bought? Although – I am pretty sure they put a different head on the body! Just don’t wash these glasses in the dish washer – HAND WASH ONLY!

My Kitty would not leave – so you get a shot of him too
Yes, there is still more Westland Giftware. This has to be my favorite mug in the collection – not only do I love the shape of the mug – but can you even think of a better image to use on a Hulk mug? Holy Hell, I love this thing! Most of the images being used are from TIH #206 – but this is the classic image from merchandise from the late 70’s early 80’s. Discussing it with another Gamma bro, I don’t think this was ever in the comics – but if it was please let me know where this image originated from! I have used this thing already – and I have to tell you – Milk looks more delicious in this mug! I don’t know how it’s possible – but it does! Tap water tastes like Perrier! I don’t have any physical proof – but I think it turned water into wine one time. Either that or I forgot to wash it between uses.
Back of Mug
I was excited to get this mug for Christmas. It’s image – which is a great Hulk image – is on a whole lot of newer Hulk stuff… I already posted a tumbler with the same Hulk on it. I am looking into getting a beautiful display cabinet for the Hulk room and if it does work out then maybe I’ll be able to set up all these glasses and mugs together. By the way – I also found a rockin’ new Marvel glass set – I will post that next – because now it is out of the bag….
The box art
Let me just put it out there now – I will probably not be posting for the rest of the week – I am heading out tomorrow and will be gone until Saturday. I will not even be reading any new Hulky goodness until I come back – so don’t expect the new review until at least Sunday. Sorry ahead of time.
But these glasses are freakin’ sweet! I have to say – the image on the glass below… I am getting a bit bored with it – but the other glass is classic Trimpe! And I want to guzzle green milk out of it! I am not even sure which issue it is out of – but I bet one of you other Hulk maniac’s will tell me – making me feel silly.
Glass 2 - my favorite!
I’ve seen these glasses going for $12 on ebay – with $16 shipping. I wanted these glasses BADLY – but was not about to pay that amount for them. The $12 price is fine – but the $16 shipping? YIKES! Then more and more of these starting popping up on ebay – with better prices – but even better? My mother found these in a store in FL for a very decent price OF… $6! Biggeddy BAM!
Back of Glass
This features most of the villians and heroes from the Marvel Universe – there is a mug that features just the Hulk – this exact drawing of the Hulk that I posted already. I know it may be hard to make the Hulk out here because the entire mug is in blue – but it’s still cool.
