Let’s have a little fun and discuss some of the more graphic, violent, sad, or just plain awkward moments that have plastered the Hulk history. Be it a passing meeting between spouses of a gruesome scene that nobody saw coming – this year I’ll have you squirming in your seat!
Let’s look back and notice that no other enemy of Hulk’s rogue gallery have had the transformations that the Leader has. He went from a sanitation worker to ultra-evil genius to a man with regular intelligence – to super evil genius again! This time with a bulbous head rather than just a vertically-gifted head. Years go by and suddenly the Hulk comes face to face with a grotesque, disturbing Samuel Sterns
Of course, the Hulk arrives just in time for the Leader’s head to expand to the point of explosion. Nothing like running into a old friend and end up with his brain matter all over you… gross.
I was planning on about 20 of these posts – and since this is the last day of March this is the last of the Leader posts! Hope you enjoyed the month! I know I have mentioned an exciting announcement – and I was just told that I can tell everyone tomorrow – so get ready! Now, this month was showcasing some of the best Leader stuff – above is a personal favorite cover – the Leader and Maestro! Man, that team would be unstopable! And – in the 96 cartoon they had an episode that featured the Leader finally getting the Hulk’s power – it was kind of cool – although short lived, and if memory recalls, it was Gargoyle’s fault! Great episode – even better toy!
I can’t believe the month is almost over! It’s sad in a way! So… here’s a shot of the TTA #64 – and the Dynamic Forces Leader bust – I really like the Leader bust – I think it should have been more sought after – but what do I know? I was sure the Bowen Abomination statue would kick ass on the secondary market – and it’s not!
Smash and Crash Leader
Alright, let’s get back on track here… I know it was a shaky week last week with my tusty old blog – but let’s get down to brass tacks! Here we have two of the later 90’s Leader figures. It’s funny – the “Smash and Crash” one actually used to have a red liquid in his noggin – but overtime it evaporated… or leaked out… or something… I haven’t seen many of these with the liquid still in place. Too bad it was kind of cool. The Leader below – well, all I can say is that his head was made WAY too small!
1996 Incredible Hulk Animated Series Leader
I owe a post… but here, on this cover – it shows no other comic character has a better porn-stache than the Leader!
Sorry everyone – it was a whirlwind of a freakin’ day – I haven’t had a chance to read my comics yet – and so… the review will have to wait until Monday – or maybe I can squeak it out this weekend – but it is late and I am getting tired – but I did want to make sure to post the Leader cover – this one from the great Countdown storyline that introduced us to Madman, the Leader’s brother!
One of the Leader’s biggest plans in his early days was to create Humanoids to do his dirty work… and when the humanoids didn’t work he’d just create more – when more didn’t work he’d create bigger ones… which doesn’t seem like a brilliant plan – but hey, I’m not a genius!
