Hulk Movie News Thursday!

Well – it seems there may be no Planet Hulk movie on the horizon – I think most of us knew that was a long shot anyways – but there is news on the upcoming Hulk “talkie” – click on the pic above.  I know it says “news” – but it’s mostly still rumors abound!

Incredible Hulk Movie Card Set (2008)

2008 Hulk Movie Set

This here is just a 6 card set that has all of the actors in their roles and a Hulk and Abomination card.  The set is very limited to only 999 – I found this set at New England Comics in Quincy.  I was bummed that they didn’t make a full set movie cards for this movie – but this is at least something!  Each card has the actor’s name on the back and who they played in the movie.  I’ve never seen this set anywhere else and I am not really sure where it comes from – but if anyone knows I would be thankful for the info!

Come on back tomorrow!  I will be taking a break from the all the cards and reviewing… oh – that would be cheating – you have to come back tomorrow!

Grime Fighter Bath Set and Tub Time Friends (2009)

Grime Fighter Bath Set

Grime Fighter Bath Set

There is another set I have somewhere – I believe it’s a set that you use to turn the bath water different colors. When I find it I will post it – but these were released early this year. Found only at Wal-Mart (in this town anyways) the Grime Fighter set comes with an awesome Hulk fist sponge – washing your face will look like your getting punched… in the face. Just awesome! It also contains pictures of Hulk’s enemies including the Abomination, and then an Army tank, and a Hummer. You take one of the little green balls and throw them at the figures – how that is a bath time activity I will never know.

Tub Time Friends

Tub Time Friends

The Tub Time Friends contains soap and Hulk Loofahs.  Now, this is probably the worst thing you could do – make the Hulk into something called Loofahs.  The word loofah shouldn’t even exist let alone make the Hulk into one.  Not to mention that the loofahs just look like Hulk wearing a tutu – Look!  It’s ballerina Hulk!  This actually might be more insulting than Loeb’s writing skills… Maybe not….

Hulk Activity Books (2008)

Hulk Activity Book

Hulk Activity Book

There are just a few activity books out there that you might have seen – I found each of these in a supermarket for just $1.00.  That’s right – all this Hulky fun came for a cheap price!  Each book is a little different – the top book is a smaller activity book – not the Jumbo Activity Book I posted sometime earlier.  There really isn’t much to say anything else about these other than… I like Pancakes!  But only with syrup… banana pancakes to be precise.

Hulk Activity Book - with Tattoos!

Hulk Activity Book - with Tattoos!

One book comes with stickers and a growth chart – the other… TATTOOS!  I was never allowed, as a child, to wear fake tattoos.  Maybe that’s why I have been so resistant to getting a real tattoo as an adult.  I’m not really sure I could narrow down a Hulk image that I would get tattooed on my body – because let’s be serious – of course I would get the Hulk.  What else would I get?  Also, if you’re interested, there is a poster book with snapshots and art from the movie.  10 posters that are 20 inches – which is apparently a big enough deal that they brag about it on the cover!

So, it is here!  Now I promised a few folks I was going to post the new Target exclusive Hulk figure – but I don’t know where my head was – I forgot what day it is!  There is plenty to go through here so let’s begin with the regular one-disc version.  It has the cover art that we are used to seeing by now – a great shot of the Hulk – and has deleted scenes (with one where Leonard Samson clearly introduces himself and another that I really enjoyed involving delivering pizza) and commentary.  There is also a 3 disc version available:

The Incredible Hulk 3-Disc Version (2008)

The Incredible Hulk 3-Disc Version (2008)

This has a digital copy of the film and another disc that features the Alternate Opening where Captain America appears (I hope you have a clear screen and be sure you make good use of the pause button) and load of other extras.  This has a slip cover over the DVD case that is embrossed to make the Hulk vs. Abomination pic seem a little more 3-D.  I love the cover to this DVD more than the one-disc version – and the Blu-Ray is the same as the 3-disc with a special enhanced 3-D cover. (This is the only version that I don’t own… yet, mainly because I don’t have a Blu-Ray player)  Now on to the Exclusives.

Digital Comic

Digital Comic

I didn’t pick up all the exclusives due to the fact that you have to keep buying the movie to get them – but I know Best Buy had a litograph – I didn’t see them at my Best Buy and had to make some tough choices so I chose not to get it – and Circuit City had an exclusive disc that had games and such… the clerk really had no idea what the disc did so I don’t have much information myself, but again I didn’t pick that up.  What I did get was the WalMart exclusive that is a digital comic (I haven’t had a chance to look at this yet) and also Blockbuster has a nice exclusive:

Framed Cover #1

Framed Cover #1

The framed covers are limited to 26,000 each.  The top frame is # 24,270 and the bottom is #24,271.  Seems like a big number but it’s nice to know just how many are out there.  The covers chosen are the classic Incredible Hulk #102 – the premier issue which is much better than the played out Incredible Hulk #1 cover.  There are some better covers but #102 is one of the more sought after Hulk issues so… I understand.  The other cover is more appropriate for the movie – the first cover to feature the Abomination – Tales to Astonish #91.

The best exclusive by far is the Target 3-disc DVD case featuring the Hulk playing peek-a-boo with you and a brick wall.  It has all the discs that the other stores are selling but in a very unique case that opens in the back.  The brick wall opens and exposes the raging Hulk behind it.  I’m a huge fan of this exclusive – and if you haven’t bought it yet then I suggest getting this one!

I think Target is spot on with the exclusive packages they keep putting out there.  They will keep getting my business as long as they put out Iron Man face cases and transforming Transformer cases.  Pretty sweet.
