Incredible Hulk #1 (1962)

hulk11962lee

So, here it is!  I don’t even know what to write!  I finally got it!  Finally found a pretty reasonable copy that isn’t in too bad condition either!  The cover is full – and the comic is complete – and it felt so good to finally get a copy.  I found this on ebay – and maybe it was the ebay boycott, or the economy – or the fact that is was a new ebayer – or whatever other reason people want to give for no one buying anything – I was one of 3 bidders on this and no one outbid me – although with 13 seconds left someone came close!  But no cigar means no Hulk #1!  I am too ecstatic for words!

And just to let you know… I have 13 issues left to get – but I will get to that later.

FINALLY!!!!

We got to see our first look at the Hulk Movie due out June 13th!  They have waited for a while to start showing trailers or even any decent pictures!  Probably so that they aren’t taking any excitement from the Iron Man movie, but it is finally here!

I know the Hulk looks very CGC’ed – but I was really psyched to see it and think it looks great!  The Abomination still doesn’t look much like… the Abomination – and I know that there is all sorts of controversy surrounding  Ed Norton and the final touches an the film… all I hear is “Blah Blah Blah”.  I’m too excited for this freaking movie!  It will rock, even if it doesn’t really rock – I’m still watching about 15 times in the theater!

So if you’re wondering what I thought of the trailer – I thought it was pretty great and am even more excited to see the movie now.  I’m not going to nit-pick at anything – I’m truly too excited to care of it’s not perfect!  It look great and I can’t wait to see the movie!

Abomination…

Just add ears!… and what Abomination should look like!…

Hulk Frosted Mug (2003)

fhmug

I know it’s been a little while since my last post – but I had quite the week!  Let’s start with this little beauty that I found at The Comic Store in Nashua, NH.  It was a pretty decent store with lots of older statues and busts.  The Frosted Mug here was a pretty great find – except that upon further investigation I found a huge dirt particle in the inside of the water IN the mug!  How the heck did that happen?  I have no idea…

The mug is nice – I’m not a huge fan of the image used but them’s the breaks!

I’m Officially Calling Foul!

That’s it!  I refuse to believe that these are that hard to come by!  If anything, this blog has proven that these toys are being sold like hotcakes! – actually not hot cakes cause no one is buying them…

I think one sold for $780 – and then some fool paid $5,000 for another – but every other one hasn’t sold!  They keep saying – acording to the Stretch King, Tony, there is only 9 in existence – well, I think someone needs to take another count!  The same 9 people keep trying to sell theirs?  Foul!  Foul I say!

UPDATE:  Finally this little guy DID sell – not for the crazy amount to which he was asking for – but a decent amount of cash – $2,700.00 to be exact!

3-Piece Meal Time Set (2008)

3piecemealtimeset

I had to buy this… it’s the firstthing I saw for the new movie!  Although it doesn’t say anything from the new movie – the images look like the promos we’ve been seeing.  It’s from the company ZAK! which I’ve never heard of or even seen anything from this company before.  The pieces are nice though…

the cup

The little plastic cup makes him look like a Hollister model!

the bowl

The bowl makes him look like John Cusack from “Say Anything…” but instead of holding up a stereo playing his favorite song – he’s holding up his own name.

hulk plate

And the plate is the coolest of them all!  I thought it would be a waste for this to just sit in the box so I gave it to my sister so that my nephew could have a meal or two with the greatest comic character of all time.  My sister promised to give it back someday though… we’ll see how the Hulk holds up to a toddler’s meal time abuse!

Guess Who’s Back… Back Again…

Are you getting sick of seeing this little guy – I kind of am – and I don’t even own one!  Yet…

This little guy may look familiar though… it was up for auction before for $6,000.00 but was taken down after only a few days.  I reported on it back on Feb. 7th.  Well it’s back up for auction, this time for a generous $3499.95!  Wait… .95?  Yes, .95!  Whew – cause that 4 cents would have put it over the limit for me!

UPDATE: No one bought this… one offer was declined – I can only imagine what it was

Incredible Hulk #141 (1971)

hulk 141 doc samson

I realized something when thumbing through this story… the main emotion that fuels the Hulk lore is jealousy.  This story really brings that to light.

Just like Spiderman is driven by guilt and Batman by revenge…

Hulk is driven by jealousy.  Emil, the scientist who worked with Banner in the very first comic, detonated the Gamma Bomb because he was jealous of Banner’s position and power.  Hulk has always been jealous of people’s acceptance of each other.  The Leader is jealous of the Hulk’s power – as is the Abomination.

Well, this story revolves around Leonard Samson who promises he can, not only cure Betty Ross (who has been crystallized), but get rid of the Hulk forever.  As the Hulk searches for Jarella – the microscopic green lady who first shows the Hulk true love (you have to read it) he comes across Major Talbot.  As Hulk is about to crush Talbot, Samson projects an image of Betty Ross and makes Bruce Banner come out.  Bruce agrees to let Samson try to cure him and save Betty.  Long story short – but Samson’s laser works – Betty becomes flesh again and Samson cures Bruce.  Then, Samson, jealous of Hulk’s might, uses the laser on himself and becomes a muscle bound scientist.  He sets his sights on Betty – who still loves Bruce, but lets Samson take her out – Banner gets jealous of Samson’s new mighty physique and his new interest in Betty and turns the laser back on him.  He unleashes the Hulk again – and Samson jumps into action – trying to beat him down.  Samson gets his ass handed to him and his ego bruised, but in a horrible twist of fate, Betty comes running to Samson’s side – rather than worrying about Bruce’s return of the Hulk.

Great story.  I recommend everyone read this.

Joint Action Hulk (1978)

jahulk

Alright, I have a lot of Hulk stuff… even I will admit – maybe too much – but this is the coolest thing ever!  This is the pose-able cardboard Hulk I wish I had as a kid!  Based on the classic Sal Buscema Hulk this perfectly designed toy – if you can call it a toy – has a thousand uses!

Just see what I mean below as I had this Hulk demonstrate the “fun” children’s song – “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”

BUT WAIT!!!!!!  This tale is not over just yet!  I bought this from ebay – and recieved the package today – and the best part – the person used 45 STAMPS TO SEND IT!  Just look!

How crazy is that?  AND… the person still had to pay $0.51 to finish paying for it!

The Pre-Hulk Room…

hroom1

These are just a few pics of the room where the Hulk room will be.  As you can tell it’s already jam packed with Hulk stuff!  It now just needs a bit of cleaning and shelves and display cases and… okay it needs alot of stuff.  But I’ve never had all of my Hulk stuff in just one room – usually it’s displayed all over the house – seeing it all in one room is kind of cool!

Marvel Chess Pieces (2005)

hulk&abombchess

Hulk and the Abomination are rooks.  I have no idea what that means in chess but I have to imagine that rooks are the muscle.  But why is it that Abominaton  looks so much better than the Hulk?  These pieces are pretty cool – but I don’t play chess so… but I do like the pieces.  This series has Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Doom are the Kings and Storm and Mystique are the Queens.  This line is interesting because they sell them in solid boxes so you can’t see what you are buying.  Hulk and “A-Bomb” are the heaviest pieces so I was able to weed which boxes contains them.  I’m smart like that!
