The Flood Has Begun…

A lot of pictures of the toys for ’08 are now starting to make their way onto the net…  Thank you to Corry for all the links – AND I found that Stephen Yarish of The Engine of Destruction website has grouped them all together on one page.  Check it out here. By the looks of what is coming out I am going to have a very busy ’08! The Super Hero Squad Planet Hulk with Surfer is my favorite!  But the Mighty Marvel Muggs look really good too!  Rejoice Hulk fans!

*Thanks to Stephen for allowing me to link to his page!

Hulk T.V Tray (1979)

htvtry

This is a great piece in mint condition!  I love this because it still has the legs.  Hulk looks huge though, walking down the street at sunset (or is it sunrise?) Who knows – but I think he just came out of Jacob’s – it looks like the kind of shady place you’d find the Hulk trolling for chicks – Made by Marsh Allen products in 1979.

Hulk Colorforms (1980)

colorforms1

Remember Colorforms?  Weren’t they great for… like, a second?  Then you got bored with them – put them away – then, as you were looking for something else, you’d discover them again and you were all excited, busted them out again – played with them for another whole second then got bored all over again.

I do like how they included the Leader, Abomination, and the Rhino in the pack.

I’m Getting Better At This…

backissuesfeb

This Wednesday the comic shop I frequent had a few more Hulk issues I needed – but unfortunately, I was unable to stop by my house to get my list first, so I had to guess which issues I needed!  This trip went a lot better than the last!  I picked up:

# 119
# 129 – Amazingly great copy!
# 154
# 157
&
Giant Size # 3 – Leader Appearance!

Hulk Visionaries:Peter David – Volume 5 (2008)

pdvhv5

This great collection may be hitting a speedbump.  I would be crushed.  It’s like discovering Peter David all over again!  But, back to that speedbump, this collection, which is volume 5, was supposed to be out at the end of January.  Than it was pushed back 2 weeks.  No big deal – except that I still couldn’t find it anywhere once it was out!  How are people expected to buy it if they can’t find it!  I had to special order this book from Borders.  It just came today – which is great – but I’m worried that I won’t see a Volume 6 or 7 or… Oh, *shudder* I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

What!?! BULL! Iron Man #133

ironman133

I found this in a small thrift shop in New Bedford – and it’s not a Hulk comic – it’s an Iron Man and the cover says “Iron Man has finally beaten the Hulk…” and then it goes on – but I stopped reading there.  I bought the comic, and drew my own ending – so that when I do read it, if I don’t like the ending of this one, I will pull out my version and start reading.

* – If you are curious, my version ends with the Hulk writing the word “Balls” on Iron Man’s helmet, who has blacked out once again from getting seduced by Zima.  Yes, the drink.

Incredible Hulk #104/#155/#158

104155158

My favorite part of these back issues has to be the art.  There seemed to be so much more character in the older comic books.  There are some great modern artists – but, for my money, give me the classic artists anytime!  This is another small lot I picked up off ebay – and I know I said that I wasn’t going to keep buying them off ebay until absolutely necessary – but as usual I’m a filthy, filthy liar.

Here we go again…

I’m beginning to feel as though the “Stretch Hulk” isn’t as hard to come by as some people would like you to think… because since I have started this blog – in September! – I have seen at least 4 of these go up for sale.  If it is that rare then this must be some kind of phenomenon.  This auction has a Buy It Now for $4,800.00.  I very muted starting price of $699.99.  I will keep you updated – but the other Stretch Hulk that I reported on still hasn’t sold.  Maybe I’m a little jaded on this piece because I was led to believe that these are impossible to come by – but as this blog shows – I don’t really think that that is the case.

UPDATE: The bidding went up to $2,001.00 but did not reach the reserve price so it did not sell.  Yes, you are reading this right – it didn’t sell for $2000!  What a crazy world.

UPDATE: THE SEQUEL: So, this little guy is now up for auction again.  Only this time the BIN is reduced to $3500.00.  Gee, what a steal!  Click the image for the link.

UPDATE: HI-YA!: It did not reach the reserve price yet again – but only one bidder even tried for it at $699.00 – looks like people may be listening to me after all!

Chris’ Comics – 2/9/08

So, funny enough I was back at Chris’ Comics today.  I was looking through the good bin that he was telling me about.  Only thing is I forgot my list.  The list is essential when you are trying to get the complete run but have no idea what comics you have left to get.  I have a pretty good idea – but not 100% certain.  So this is what I got:

121ih

#121 – (Trimpe)

127ihbi

#127 – (Trimpe)

137ihbi

#137 – (Trimpe)

&

166ihbi

#166 – (Trimpe)

Not a bad little take – except that I already have #137!  I am such a sucker for a great Abomination cover.  I was in the store for a good half an hour trying to figure out if I had this book or not.  Then I decided to throw cation to the wind – and damn!  I was wrong.  Oh well.  The good news?  Only 98 issues left to get.
