There’s a sad rumor floating around…

There is a rumor out there that the McFarlane-inspired grey Hulk statue from Diamond Select has been cancelled.  Here is the picture of it so you know what I’m talking about:

I wasn’t sure if I was going to pick this piece up anyways – wasn’t sure because of the recent surge in Hulk merchandise recently (and the movie merchandise hasn’t even come out yet!  Sheesh!)  and of all of the sta – wait did I just say “Sheesh”?  Oh, crap I think I did – of all of the statues that have come out recently this was by far the least impressive.  I was probably going to pass on this statue anyways, so it doesn’t really affect me – but I know alot of Hulk fans out there are crying out in pain right now.  Sorry bros.

There is still a chance that this is an ugly rumor and that it’s still coming out.  I’ll keep you posted though

The Incredible Hulk #372 & 376

372376hulk

There was no better time for a Hulk fan than the early 90’s.  Peter David was just hitting a creative stride, Hulk was selling better than ever, and Dale Keown had never made the Hulk look better.  I prefer the illustrations of this time period – (recent drawings seem to highlight a bunch of veins branching out every where) these seem almost simplistic now.  #372 is the comic where the Green Hulk literally comes ripping out of Bruce Banner’s skin!  Might I be so bold to say – best reappearance of a character ever!  You knew the Hulk wasn’t going to stay Grey forever – but to have the Green Hulk come back so violently was just so poetic!  These 2 covers are some of my favorites of the Keown Hulk era.  The all too short Keown Hulk era.

Mega Blocks Hulk & Spiderman Playset (2006)

megahulkandspidey

Hulk and Spiderman paired up again.  You’d think that these two were friends or something!  But they never actually got together in the comics and fought crime.  They’ve been guest-stars in each other’s comics and even helped the Wood-God escape together – but they’ve never displayed what I would call friendship.  In fact, I bet Spiderman, when he’s in the hallways with his “cool ” friends doesn’t even talk to Hulk when he says Hi.  I guess he’s just too cool!  What-ever Spiderman.  You are so not cooler than me! – I mean Hulk!

That’s right – another stretch Hulk for sale.

Another Stretch Hulk has appeared on ebay.  The starting price is a little pricey (I’m still not ready to get one of these yet, unless someone wants to give me a loan the money to buy this.)

UPDATE: The Auction has ended.  This beauty went for a whopping $5,000.00 – and $55 for shipping.

I know… I know…

Mega Block Magnetic Figure (2006)

mbh

Trust me when I tell you that I searched everywhere – every toy store from here to New Hampshire – and no one ever had this in stock.  I once found a Spider-man figure, it gave me hope, and I searched forever in that store, but to no avail.  I had to settle for finding a buyer off ebay who wasn’t charging like crazy to ship.  This figure is pretty cool though.  It’s held together by magnets and comes with a “Build your own” missile pack.  If you combine the Spider-man and Wolverine packs then you can build the Ultimate AttakGlider (their spelling, not mine).  It was also very hard to take a good picture of this because the backing is silver.  The flash comes shining back at you like nothing you’ve ever seen!  Almost blinded me.

It was Fate…

Today’s haul at New England Comics was great – totally made up for the disappointing trip I had in Norwood.  As I was scouring the back issue bin the guy from behind the counter walked up to me and whispered (seriously, he whispered) “Hey I just got some back issues in.  I already sold 181 and 182…”  Damn-it!  Of course he did! “…but I got a few goodies behind the register if you’re interested.”  I told him I was and he pulled out… a great selection of late 100’s that I needed.  Today’s stash is as follows:

#191
#192
#193
#196
#197
#202
#214
#270
#329
#338
#421
#434
#437
#439

I told you, today was a great day! And I’m down to needing just 118 back issues! Woo-Hoo!

Comics Buyer’s Guide is Hulk-tastic!

cbg1936

This month the Comic Buyer’s Guide (#1639) features the Green and Red Hulk on its cover with some nice tidbits on the inside as well.  There is a small article titled “Running in the Red” that has the current Hulk and Hercules creators talking about what the new story lines are promising to bring.  Pakk says in the article that the 3rd part to his “trilogy” is supposed to be Skkar: Son of Hulk.  That was a little disappointing to hear since I’m still not convinced Skkar isn’t going to suck.  That’s the most I’ve been upset about how a trilogy has ended since the Matrix.

Also, they have a feature called 10 Favorite Covers and it’s Mark Paniccia – Editor to the Hulk comics – displaying his favorite Hulk covers.  Even though I felt his list was a bit too safe it’s still fun to read.

And lastly, Peter David writes a column at the end and this month he discus’s the many rumors of the things he hates from Todd McFarlane to the fans in general.  It was really interesting.  This alone was worth the book.

It’s out now – pick it up!

“Power of Doctor Banner” Super 8 Film (1976)

8mmhulk

This is the coolest thing to find!  It’s an 8mm, black and white, 11-minute, silent film starring the Hulk in a cartoon called Power of Doctor Banner.  It’s from 1976, the same year I was born, and released by Ken Films, once located on Main St. of Fort Lee, New Jersey.  My plan is to see if any of the companies that transfer these over to DVD will do it for this.  Sometimes they have issues transfering things that are copywritten, but if I can just convince them that I’m just a geek with a dream, maybe they will do it for me.  I would love to see what it looks like.  Too bad I threw away my 8mm projector with my bell-bottoms and 8-track.  What an idiot I am!

UPDATE: So apparently, there were two versions of this super 8 made.  One is the B/W silent version before you – the other is the colorized with sound.  Out of the two, though, the B/W, silent version is the harder version to find – and as a purist – I don’t mind having the B/W version.  I just want to find a way to watch it!
