Marvel Cards (1991)

hulk-stuff-5-207.jpg

These 3 cards are from Marvel series from 1991.  The middle card featuring Wolvering vs The Hulk I think is drawn by Larsen.  At least it looks very Larsen-ish.  I always thought that The Thing matched up with the Hulk was always great – but only as long as the Hulk won – because The Thing would never out-power the Hulk.  Just ridiculous.  The Last card geatures Hulk squaring off his greatest enemy – The Leader.

Hulk Vinyl Figure (1991)

1991 vinyl

This huge figure stands 15 inches tall and seems to be modeled after the Kirby Hulk.  This is such a great piece – too bad they wasted it on a vinyl figure.  I think this would’ve made a great statue.

Trying to find this figure nowadays is like trying to find the prize in the cereal box before your mother comes down the stairs and gives it to your crying brother.  They seem to have all disappeared.  So, even though mine is slightly distorted (you might notice that the waist does not fit snuggly together) I am still very happy to have it.

It all depends on how you look at it…

I found this blog and thought it was interesting enough to post here and show you.  And just for the record – I totally agree.  It’s funny because I just posted Incredible Hulk #182 and have been looking to make a major comic purchase – either Incredible Hulk #3, #6 or #180.  That’s all I can get with my budget right now – but let me know what you think – about the article and which comic I should purchase.

Update! – I thought I would let you know that I aquired copies of both Incredible Hulk #3 and #6.  Both are pretty mucked up copies – but that means I am that much closer having a complete run of the Hulk comics!  I will post them when the arrive.

Incredible Hulk #182 (1974)

182

This comic is the third appearance ever of Wolverine.  The first pages conclude the story that started in #180 where Hulk was facing off against Wendigo and the Canadian government sent in Wolverine to get the situation under control.  Unfortunately, for Wolverine, he failed and they took him out of there by helicopter.  In this issue you get to meet Cracka-Jack Johnson (I love that name!) a gentle old man who takes the Hulk in and shows him kindness.  You also get to meet his son – “Hammer” Jackson, who has just escaped from prison and is chained to Johnny Anvil.  The two happen by an alien who they inadvertently save and the alien gives them super-powers that work through the chain that they are connected by.

This issue is chock full of greatness, not only was it drawn by the great Herb Trimpe, but it has Wolverine (if you’re into that sort of thing), and even a great story, where Cracka-Jack Johnson eventually dies.  And for the first time Hulk is distraught over losing a friend.  Also, as an added bonus – Hulk learns to write!!!!

Hulk Mouse Pad (2003)

mp

I had a Hulk Game Cube Controller as well – but my cat ate through the wire and it was no good anymore.  I was really because it vibrated like crazy when you played the Hulk games.  All I can say about this is that I see it everyday because it is on my desk.  Other than that… it’s a mouse pad.  I do like this one better than the others I have seen.  Man, I can’t wait to move into my house and start working on my Hulk room.  The official title will be “Ratchet’s Deluxe Hulk Room”  Deluxe becuase it will be that awesome!

Franklin Mint Hulk Folding Knife (1997)

These are pretty easy to come by on ebay… most go for about $10 – some go as high as $60.  It’s pretty crazy how different the prices are on these.  Some people believe them to be real collectible and have priced them at $100, and other, more realistic people have them priced for way cheaper.  I like this piece.  The knife is pretty large.  Made in 1997 and comes with it’s own case.  The blade says The Incredible Hulk.

Incredible Hulk Snow Shoes (1978)

hulk snow shoes

There is a price tog on the top of the box – I’m not sure if you can see it or not – it says “RED’S” and the price below says “$3.99”.  That’s one of the best things about this little collectible.  I say collectible because there is no way anyone would actually use these – right?  I mean they’re like little sleds that you strap to your feet.  How is that safe?  I’d feel like Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation with these on.  Yes, the original box is pretty messed up, but I’ve never seen anyone else with this item so – I’m pretty happy with what I have here.  Put these together with the Hulk hands and your half way to looking like an idiot.  Woo-Hoo!

Hulk snow shoes.  I’m almost afraid of what I will find next.

Scene Machine (1978)

 scene machine

This may look like an ordinary van – but behold!  If you peer into the back of the van and hold it up to the light you will see a furious Hulk inside ripping out the steering wheel and slamming his fist against the door.

By the way, I’m not making any of that up.

These scene machines were made in the late 70’s by Hot Wheels and featured a small animated scene inside of the truck that you can only see by putting this van up to your eye and aiming it at the light.

Upcoming Marvel Legends Line…

Here’s what I found out about the new ML Hulk Line coming out soon.  See all the pictures of the upcoming line here.  It looks as though they are mainly focusing on Planet Hulk characters rather than a classic or movie line.  I was hoping for a real kick-ass Leader figure.  Or at least a Betty Banner figure (which they’ve never made).  But lucky for us they do seem to be including a Son of Hulk figure.  Ugh.

Boo… Bad Desicion.

Isn’t it enough that they are turning the Hulk red – but this monstrocity is also coming out in 2008.  The unborn child of Hulk was apparently so far along in the pregnancy – it didn’t matter that his mother was disintergrated into nothing when that bomb went off – Hulk’s son has survived!  And hear’s to hoping that it’s actually fun to read – because from what it looks like – it seems we’re revisiting 1999 and the Marvel 2099 line just came out.  Anyone remember Ravage 2099?  How about Spiderman 2099?  or Hulk 2099?  Not ringing a bell yet?  Shocker.
