Hulk Movie Puzzles (2008)

I found these on the Monday before all of the Hulk movie related merchandise was actually released.  These two puzzles weren’t purchased on that Monday though – BECAUSE THEY WOULDN’T LET ME BUY THEM!  They put these items out early and then, when I went up to the register to purchase – they denied me.  I had to go back Friday and get them.  I like the one where you can see more of the Hulk rather than the close up on his face.  With all of the bright lights behind him it looks like he’s in Vegas!  Vegas baby!  VEGAS!  But that’s just me… 

Superhero Squad – Abomination vs. Hulk (2008)

They used two movie characters in the superhero squad releases.  This is one.  The best, that I will post later, has the Silver Surfer from Planet Hulk in it.  Instead I chose to show you a ridiculously happy Abomination and Hulk that are supposed to fight each other.  Can you really fight someone when you’re this happy?  I don’t even think it’s possible!  The Abomination is an abomination – but that’s pretty normal now…

Don’t Wake Hulk (2008)

Haven’t played this one yet – so, no pics of that.  Maybe soon.  I think this might be fun, but no way will it be more fun than Operation Hulk!  It’s based on the children’s game Don’t Wake Daddy.  You have to sneek around and hope Daddy – or in this case Hulk – don’t wake up.  This seems like a strange game.  Do you think the game’s creator was a child of an alchoholic?  Like, he had to sneak around and hope his father didn’t wake up – otherwise, he lost, AT LIFE!  Man, what a sad game to play!

Ultimate Human #4 (2008)

This great mini-series from the Ultimate Universe finally concluded with this issue.  They set up the story to introduce the Leader and here they… – oh, if you don’t want to know ad want to read it yourself, stop reading here… – Kill him!  The Hulk beats the hell out of him in  a great (not such a) surprise ending where the Leader makes the pilot of an airplane coming to pick him crash into them so the Hulk would stop beating him.  Read this whole mini-series – it’s totally worth it.  Iron Man even gets a great “last word” to the Leader before the Leader realizes he is beaten. 

Incredible Hulk Mega-Clap Hulk (2008)

The Hulk figures aren’t so bad – actually the scuplt is pretty good – with lots of articulation!  Big plus for people who open them out of there packages!  Besides, these packages aren’t that well thought out.  Very clumsy and easy to rip open.  Have to be extra careful for those of you like me who keep some of them in the package!  I have this little guy out of the package as well – but the thing is – his arms don’t go down!  They stay flailing out to the sides unless you puch the button on his back.  What’s up with that? 

Paulson Incredible Hulk Poker Chips (2002)

These chips are pretty rare.  They came in a set that contained 20 Hulks, 20 Wolverines and 40 Spideys.  They came and went pretty fast because the company that made them went bankrupt after releasing the first shipment.  There are said to only be about 200 sets released – meaning there are about 4000 chips out there.  That’s pretty cool – because 2 of them reside with me!

King Size Hulk #1 (2008)

This King Size Hulk is on sale on May 28th (that’s also the day I turn 32 – Happy Birthday to me) and looks really interesting.  From the pics above it looks like She-Hulk can hand out an ass kickin’!  And is the Red Hulk bleeding yellow?  Weird.  To read more just click on the image and find out more!

Movie Abomination (2008)

I can’t really tell you that this is a must have.  The Abomination just looks SO different.  The figure does look like it would be a great Hulk foe!  If they didn’t call it the Abomination and called it something else that would’ve been better.  But to call THIS the Abomination is a little too much to swallow.  I know the Director said he had reasons for changing it – but I think his reasons were a bit of a cop-out.  If you want to change it – just say so – but don’t say the origin didn’t make sense to you – that it wasn’t realistic – because since when did getting exposed to radiation turn you into a huge, muscular, green man?

Kirby: King of Comics by Mark Evanier (2008)

What an amazing book this is!  Not onl does it follow the late, great Jack Kirby’s life and the early days of Marvel but it also gives you a TON of amazing pictures and older sketches from the master himself.  The book also calls into question exactly how much writing Stan Lee did – and how much the illustrators added to the stories.  It’s a very interesting read.

The saddest story of the book is this page where they re-count when Marvel commisioned Kirby to draw a bunch of posters for a series of superhero posters.  When they got the initial drawings they worried that maybe there were too many Kirby drawings and asked Herb Trimpe to take Kirby’s Hulk poster and re-do it.  Trimpe did as he was told and basically took Kirby’s drawing but changed the head to match with the style that Hulk had adpoted around that time.  That was the final nail in the Marvel coffin for Kirby.

Actually, I do like the Trimpe drawing better – but it’s hard to after reading this…  Check out this book if you have the chance.  Pick it up and enjoy a mighty fine read.

I’m still waiting to hear about any of the major collectible companies like Sideshow or Bowen Designs to see if there are any Hulk movie merchandise on the way from them.  I will try to keep everyone as up-to-date as I can.

As for some sad news – I went to see Iron Man today.  While the movie was great (make sure you stay till after the credits) and fulfilled every expectation there was no Hulk trailer before my movie!  I was really mad!  I was told that it would be there!  Maybe they weren’t showing it before Iron Man in the theater I went to but I have to tell you, I almost left in protest.  But I am glad I stayed. 🙂

Hulk Mask (2008)

I love this little item!  This new mask has light up eyes – but the best part of the packaging is that you can see some eyes right through the package (which is a bit freaky too!).  I haven’t taken the mask out of the package – but I think it looks big enough for an adult to wear.  Which is awesome!  I took a picture with the eyes lit up so that you can see – take a look!

Hulkey Pokey Hulk (2008)

You might think that this is just plain insulting to the Hulk legacy – but me?  I think it’s just plain awesome!  You press one of Hulk’s toenails and he says something – and the tune is a little different as well – he says “Put your left hand in, Put your left hand out, Put your left hand in and smash it all about”  It is pretty adorable.  I have to admit that this might be the newest inventive toy of the new Hulk toy releases.

Operation (Hulk Edition) (2008)

So, complying with Paul’s wishes, the first post of the new Hulk haul is this game.  I talked my sister and wife into playing with me – even though the game is for 6 years old – it was still really fun.  The Hulk eyes light up green and the game says “Hulk Smash!” or just “Hulk” then other times growls or even howls.

Some of the better pieces are the Puny Banner piece and the Betty Butterflies.  It was still a really fun game that brought back a lot of memories from when I was a kid – just better because now it was the Hulk in the patient’s spot.

NEW HULK TOYS!!!!!!!

I will of course post these separately later – but I just thought I’d show you what a great day I had.  I almost fainted going into Toys R Us.  Wal*Mart and Target unfortunately have people working there with no clue on how to treat their customers… Thank goodness for Geoffrey!
