She-Hulk Marvel Legends (2008)

Marvel Legends Savage She-Hulk
Marvel Legends Savage She-Hulk

This would be the short-packed figure of the line.  And of coirse this is the one that has the best part of the BAF Foom.  The head and neck!  You can see just how cool the massive figure is going to be when you look at the detail that litters this figure!  Take a closer look at the head here (as well as a She Hulk crotch shot):

Now we can get to the She-Hulk figure.  This figure is based on the Savage She-Hulk that first appeared in the comics – not the sexy lawyer that she evolved into.  Her face is done really well and the cloth dress actually comes off to reveal that She Hulk is a huge fan of the string bikini!  I think that this figure is done really well – the wild mane of hair and the expression on her face – she almost looks to be growling!  If you can find this figure consider yourself lucky because the price is already sky-rocketing on ebay!

Hulk Sun Glasses (2008)

Hulk's future's so bright...
Hulk's future's so bright...

I now have MORE Hulk sun glasses that do not fit me… I, of course, didn’t buy these but instead was given these by my mother.  She returned from Florida with Hulk sun glasses.  I can’t complain when people get me Hulk stuff – I do have an entire room of my house dedicated to the guy  – not to mention some of the crazy things I’ve bought.  But the best part is that she bought both kinds of sun glasses (I might be rubbing off on her, in a bad way) as a completest I would do this – but as a mother isn’t it your job to say things like “You have one pair, why do you need another?  That’s just a waste of money!”  Now, instead, my mother picks up every pair of Hulk sun glasses that she can find.

Wendigo Marvel Legends (2008)

Wendigo Marvel Legends
Wendigo Marvel Legends

This is the figure rumored to being the best and most sought after.  It is really amazing!  It’s huge and detailed and massive!  There are a few set-backs to this toy though – first off, Wendigo is all white so the paint application is pretty standard – I do wish there was a better way to give some highlights though, maybe with a bit of grey but this figure is without.  Again, the packaging is he one thing this line has done right.  Instead of the bubble packaging that the Marvel Legends had adopted they go with the blister packaging with a plastic bubble glued to a cardboard backing.  There’s a classic illustration of the character at the top left corner.  It’s pretty phenomenal all around.

The face and heavy metal hair do make up for any letdowns on this figure.  There’s a great wide tail that attaches to the back and… oh… unfortunately that’s it.  This Marvel Legends Figure Line is really lacking on any accessories.  It’s a huge bummer too – because those are some of the coolest aspects of these toys – and to charge more – for less!  And sure, you do get a piece for the BAF Fin Fang Foom that looks really good (this comes with the right arm and wing of Foom) – but those shouldn’t count as accessories.  All in all this is still a great figure that lives up to the hype and is is a must have!

Far and away the biggest Hulk Statue out there.  Well, if you don’t count the new Movie Marquees or the new life size Hulk statue that’s selling on ebay for $5,000.00.  This statue is considered the best Hulk statue out there.  And it is amazing, in size, in detail, right down to the cloth purple pants they have put him in.

Made in the image of the original Kirby illustrations – this statue stands at an impressive 20″ high and weighs about a gadillion pounds.  That’s a lot.  I can’t even tell you how hard it is to even move around because it’s so big!  I’m not really sure where tro put him right now… I have him near the Master Replicas Hulk – but MR Hulk looks like a midget next to him (as you can see) and the MR Hulk is way too cool to do that to.

I love this statue – but if you want it then get it NOW because the price seems to just keep going up and up.  Ebay is great like that sometimes – but at other times – it seems like a curse!  There is also a Grey Hulk vesion (only 179 made) – but the green is the pinnacle!  This has a run of 1000 and this one is #343.

Big Hulk in Hulk Room!
Big Hulk in Hulk Room!

Look at that face!  His face perfectly captures the Hulk’s simpleton/angry persona in the first comics – the massive body is just crazy BIG and intimidating.  You can almost see what the soilders who were first faced with the Hulk must’ve seen!

Tales to Astonish #59 (1964)

Tales to Astonish #59 - First Hulk!
Tales to Astonish #59 - First Hulk!

On my trip to New York I entered Midtown Comics and was loving the selection that they had.  Although a bit pricey I was psyched to walk in and find this comic right here… TTA #59!  The beginning of the 2nd Hulk saga!  I have been searching for one – trying not to buy one off ebay.  Great condition and great art by Dick Ayers – this comic ends letting you know that the Hulk will be taking half the TTA every month.  This is a great issue where Giant Man is asking Hulk to join the Avengers – but Hulk says no – the only way Hulk knows how 🙂  I am totally finished with the Hulk comic library now.  I have every regular edition run and now every TTA!  Man, what a good feeling!

Hulk Bust Bank (2008)

Hulk Bust Bank

Hulk Bust Bank

This bank really does look like a bust that you might get from Diamond Select (not Bowen though)  It has a great facial expression and the sculpt isn’t even too bad!  I ended up finding this on the cape at a Newbury Comics while I was searching out the Marvel Legends line.  While I didn’t find them there – I did end up locating every figure.  I will be posting those very soon.  Hopefully, with all that’s gone on recently I will get back to posting pretty regularly.  Here’s to hoping!

Backside - I mean... the back of the Hulk Bank

The little details is what makes this bank.  The veins that line the entire Hulk – and well, look at that!  Looks like Hulk’s picked up a few Crest White Strips!  Man, look at those pearly whites!  The pants, hair, and even the back are sculpted really well.

The Leader Lead Figure (2008)

Leader in Lead
Leader in Lead

I actually like the fact that they chose to base the Leader figure on McFarlane’s version.  I prefer his to the classic “Tall Head” Leader.  I would like both – but if I can only have one I’m pleased it’s this one.  I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to work these pictures with this new program.  Man, why couldn’t it be as easy as the last program?  Anyways, I’m surprised that they haven’t done an Abomination.  This hopefully will be a sign of things to come.  They have a Rhino figure – but I didn’t think it looked very good.  The color booklet that it comes with is as great as the Hulk one is – it’s gives all sorts of info and lets anyone who isn’t as informed about the Hulk lore in on some great tidbits.  For example – who out there remembers that The Leader has a brother?  No?  Well, well, well…

Sorry – Bear With Me…

So, my hard drive crashed.  In computer speak that means “Big Uh-Oh”  I will not be able to post anything for a little while – maybe next week or so – while I have to go and buy a NEW computer.  My friend was nice enough to let me borow his computer so I could post this…

See everyone real soon though!

Hulk Backpacks (2008)

Alright, settle in because I went a little backpack crazy…

First up is this one with a jumping Hulk.  There’s another version of this without the Hulk in glossy plastic – but I liked this one better.

hulkbackpack1
hulkbackpack1

This backpack also features a camouflage back round at the top and a Incredible Hulk logo at the top.  I’m usually not a huge fan of camouflage on anything – seems a little rednecky to me – but it fits with this.

Hulk Backpack #2
Hulk Backpack #2

The next, featured above has a little more flash to it.  The Hulk is standing in a pose that says “Come Get me!” and has bits of rock flying everywhere.  The top pocket has the Hulk logo with a back round of scientific looking particles – maybe neutrons or something – (that’s the only word I remember from 8th grade science) and even comes wi- Protons!  I remember protons too!  Anyways, the backpack comes with a pencil carrying case that features the Hulk’s name.

If you look close you can see the Hulk's face in the upper right corner

Lastly I have my favorite Hulk backpack – the kind that would’ve probably gotten you beat up in school for having – but I like it… Here it is!:

Look at the size of that Hulk head!  Yes, the logo is now on the bottom and the proton/neutron thingies are back – as well as the pencil case – but what can you focus on other than that huge Hulk head!  It’s like you can gaze into his mouth and check for cavities!  Again, the Hulk is made of the shiny plastic (and it was almost impossible to get a good shot of with the flash shining off of it) but the Hulk has the angry badass look we’ve come to love and adore!

Let’s end this blog today with a shot of the pencil case that, for some reason, made the backpacks more expensive.  Without the pencil case – $10.00 – With the pencil case – $15.00.  Yikes!

Marvel Legends Grey Savage Hulk (2008)

Savage Grey Hulk
Savage Grey Hulk

I guess this is supposed to be based on the original appearence of the Hulk.  Once the Grey Hulk re-entered the Hulk universe he wasn’t stupid – he was mean and a lot of fun to watch, and when he first appeared I wouldn’t say he was stupid – in fact the first 6 issues didn’t have a dumb Hulk.  He was really mean – and not as smart as Banner – but not stupid.  It’s not like he had no idea what was going on – like he did later on.

Close up of Hulk Head

The figure is really well done – the head is sculpted different than any other Grey Hulk that has been done before.  I appreciate when they try to do a charcter a little different – even if they’ve done them before.  I’m really sorry about the crappy pics – I will get better pics soon – and of all the new figures.  I really have to try to get pics without the glare of light.  I like the whole sculpt of this Hulk though – although – did they have to make his pants so ripped?  There officially in tatters now.  These figures have lots of articulation – but why do they always make Hulk’s hands so much bigger than his head?  None the less, a great figure!  I’m looking forward to finding the rest of this line!

I know it’s not the greatest pic – but the flash is killing me.  These are now showing up in stores.  They are also running about $14.99 – but at least it makes sense because you get 2 figures with these.  But what’s wrong with Hulk’s leg?  It looks like he just crawled out of a plane crash – not kicking a soldier!  Man, it almost looks painful to look at!  Here’s a closer pic:

The Hulk’s sculpt is done really well on this figure – but like with this whole line you have to search to make sure you don’t end up with one with a lazy or crossed eyes!  I like the idea of 2-packs and there is another that I will post either Tomorrow or Friday.

Hulk Model (1980)

1980 Hulk Model
1980 Hulk Model

This little figure was a piece I found on the ‘bay.  It came unpainted in a package with paints to color it – but I bought this one (not painted my me) and think it’s fine.  Too bad the pants come out a little pink.  I like how the base has HULK spelled out.  And the back… GOODNESS!  DID HULK DROP A DUECE?!  Wait.. I think that’s just a tree stump.  Oh thank God!  This was about to get gross…

It’s not the nicest or even the most interesting piece – but an oddball piece of Hulk history that shouldn’t be left out just because Hulk… had an accident

Absorbing Man Marvel Legends (2008)

Marvel Legends Absorbing Man
Marvel Legends Absorbing Man

I have been searching everywhere for these figures!  I heard a rumor that they were out early and have been visiting every store I can to keep a lookout.  So, on Saturday, after I left Hellboy 2 I wandered into Newbury Comics not expecting to find anything and saw 3 of the 8 figures!  This here, the Grey Savage Hulk and Doc Samson.  I will be getting the others as soon as I find them – but for now I was excited to find these!  I will start by showing you the Absorbing Man which is really close to the ’96 figure.

Close-Up
Close-Up

But this is a bit different… first off he has brick and stone absorbed.  That sculpt is pretty impressive.  I’m not too sure if I will end up getting figures to open so that I can build the Fin Fang Foom figure because these figures run about $14.99 – and at the ever more expensive Newbury… $19.99!  Yeah, that’s a lot of money for a figure.  It’s a good thing I have no sense when it comes to Hulk merchandise – because as nice as these figures look – the price tag is a killer!  The back of the package has a little bio and stats on the charaxter which is pretty cool – much like a lot of the Legends figures do – but a lot of them weren’t this expensive!
