What a cute kid – and here he is with his new favorite toy – that already sprung a leak so I had to cut out the inside. He didn’t care though – still loves it anyways!
Incredible Hulk 10″ (2008)

Thanksgiving is coming up Thursday. I have decided to stuff you guys full of great Hulk stuff the first half of the week since I will probably not be posting ANYTHING Thursday or Friday… sorry but I am going to be gambling Friday and either I will lose my wad or be swimming in money. Either way I don’t think I will have time to post.

Anyways, here is the larger Hulk figure from the movie line. It’s a WalMart exclusive – although, if you can believe it, my WalMart is still bare of these. A good friend of mine had the generosity to send me one when he learned of my trouble locating one. While it’s definitely the best movie figure it still doesn’t come close to the 2003 13″ figures. I don’t think many Hulk figures will. The other thing about this figure is that it has strange articulation points. It has no articulation in the wrists or feet or waist (?) – but in the abs, neck, knees, elbows and strangely enough – the upper thighs. Which makes for some really strange poses. Kind of strange.

One thing there is no complaints with is the sculpt. What a great job was done with this! Even the paint application was done really well with these- which, as most of you know, has been the weak point for this line. The information I’ve been given is that you should keep an eye out for scratches. See, the packaging for these items are not in a plastic covering or anything – and they are shipped on top of each other (kind of in a “69” position) and in transit must scrape against each other. So just have a keen eye when picking one out! I have no real complaints about the packaging but I would have rather a full window box reminiscent of the classic Mego toys.

Incredible Hulk Puzzle (1990)

This board puzzle is in amazing condition for something that is almost 20 years old. I don’t think a kid ever owned this puzzle cause I don’t see any teeth marks. What? I can’t be the only kid who ate puzzle pieces! The Hulk is classically posed with a giant boulder over his head – but that seems like small stuff since the Hulk held up an entire mountain in the Secret Wars. Holding up a boulder after you’ve held up a mountain is like a heavy weight boxer knocking out a toddler. It might seem like fun – but ultimately it’s unimpressive. Now, it can’t be just me – but the fighter jet pilot? Yeah, he might be in the wrong business… first off, he’s way too close to the Hulk not to be hitting him – and he’s never going to be able to pull up from that descent! He’s basically going down in flames – and it’s not like he’s even going to die a hero. They’re going to say “I know he died, but he missed the Hulk by a mile! What a loser!”

Roger Andrews Sketch (2008)
Here is the last sketch from the Boston Comic Con. I really like this one. I like seeing artists own interpretation – even if they are a little different. Not to mention that Roger is a neighbor. He lives a short 30 minute ride form me! He’s been busy drawing the Hulk quite frequently these days – after all he does all of the art for the Super Hero Squad figure line.
And since they released so many new Hulk figures he had plenty of practice drawing him. Here’s a quick look at a bunch of different characters that he’s done. I know some have voiced their distaste for the SHS line – but I love ’em! I’m hoping to get more art done by him! Here’s his website: http://www.rand247.com/About.html if you feel like seeing more.
Marvel Origins Hulk Statue (2007)

Well, as you can tell, Statue won. I can’t believe it either – art is one of a kind stuff! You won’t see it anywhere else! Yet, a very slim margin wanted to see another statue – so here it is…
I’ll be honest here – the statue, it’s small – and not the best Hulk item you can pick up. It’s bigger than a lot of the statues in this line – and the Hulk himself actually looks pretty interesting. He keeps the square shape of his head – the original pose of the Hulk from the very first issue. But it doesn’t just recreate the cover – it combines the Hulk from the cover and the shot of Bruce Banner when the Gamma-Bomb went off.

The base of this statue is a bit heavy – and actually a nice heft for the size. I enjoy seeing different sculptor’s interpretations of the Hulk. You might be able to find this for cheap on ebay. I bought it at the same time I purchased the Hulk Maquette re-paint and the Malcuso kit. Since I was buying so much then the owner gave me a great deal.

The run on these statues are 2500 – and this one is # 389. If you can get this for cheap I’d do it. For cheap…
Hulk Cup (1977)

Vintage! Vintage Thursday! You have to sing that first part… I received this Hulk cup in what I lovingly refer to as the Hulk care package. A SF member – dynabol – the same man who sold me the Hulk kit packed the box with a generous amount of Hulk memorabilia. This is one of the pieces I was very happy to get. A 1977 Hulk plastic cup – each side of this cup has something different. The front has a classic image of the Hulk. Buscema has the honor of being one of the artists who are considered the ultimate Hulk artists. That happens when you stick with the creative team for YEARS. Trimpe did it, Buscema did it, now, Keown and McFarlane wasn’t with the book very long in comparison but when they both did such memorable versions of the Hulk as soon as you see them you know it’s them. I’m rambling…

I love the little bio they slip on the side here – it would’ve been better to see Banner’s face transforming into the Hulk’s – but whatever – when is someone going to contact me to create the layouts for Incredible Hulk cups! The new cups – not the old cups – because the old cups layouts are already designed. Anyways, does the Hulk feel comfortable with the whole world knowing he’s a thousand pounds? If I weighed a THOUSAND pounds I wouldn’t want it written on the side of a cup, that’s for sure!

Quick Question…

I’m thinking about Friday’s post and can’t decide what to show you next – I have plenty of new art to show you guys including a commission and some sketches as well as published pages – but I also have another statue to show… so I throw the question to you. What would you rather see me post on Friday? More art – or a statue? You’ll eventually see both but what would you like to see first?
Hulk Halloween Bucket (2008)

I am so bummed. I should have shown this to you on Halloween night – but I forgot. Instead I bring this to you now… when it’s almost Thanksgiving. I like the paint job done on this Halloween Bucket. Much more colorful than the vintage one. I looked for this EVERYWHERE but no one had it. Every store I looked in had Batman, Spiderman (in both red and black costumes), even bleeping High School Musical buckets – but no Hulk. Luckily I am pretty thorough and searched every store almost everyday and found one two days before Halloween at Toys R Us. There it was – a lone Hulk bucket – all by its little lonesome. I was psyched!

The 1978 bucket was bigger. As you can figure out – bigger bucket, more candy – but I like the look on the new bucket. The ’78 bucket has a stoic look on it’s face – like he’s waiting for the bus – or reading on the crapper. The new bucket looks angry! Bearing his teeth! Ready to rumble! Wait – not ready to rumble – I think that’s owned by Michael Buffer and I don’t want to pay for using that – so the Hulk is… ready to… grapple!

I wonder if I could still find one of these…

Look how awesome the toys from the 70’s are! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these in real life – but if I do I can only imagine how high the bidding would go! This thing wouild probably sell for $50 nowadays – but then? A “walking” Hulk – yours for $16.00!
Spidey Need To Watch It!
I told you!
Cesar Feliciano Sketch (2008)

Happy Monday! I left you on Friday with a Hulk sketch – I will begin this week with a Hulk sketch from the very talented Cesar Feliciano. Mainly because the ART page is looking quite lonely with just the Wamester sketch on there. This great artist has penciled and inked his way through countless comics for DC and One Shot Press. His commission is very clean and features the Hulk in a classic pose of his arms raised over his head. His Hulk art remeinds me of Gary Frank’s back in the day. I was having a hard time deciding who to get sketches from at the Boston Con – but Cesar won me over with his illustration of Power Girl. I knew he could really capture the intense power the Hulk usually displays. He was such a nice guy to talk to as well as a great artist.
Marvel Legends Silver Savage (2008)

Another double shot Friday? What did you guys do to deserve all this attention? Maybe the fact that I have a crazy amount of Hulk stuff to show off piling up. I have had this for almost 2-months – maybe more – and have had other items to show. Besides, this really isn’t a Hulk item, is it? That’s why you are getting these two AWESOME posts today.
The Silver Savage comes from the Planet Hulk storyline. The Surfer was captured and fitted with an obedience disc. Then, when Green Scar started beating all of the other warriors – they brought out their big gun. The Surfer! Who, unfortunately was not a match for a very pissed off, banished Hulk. The figure is the perfect companion to the King Hulk released in the ML Hulk line. This figure is part of the Target Exclusive Red Hulk BAF, and before you ask – no, I am not getting the whole Red Hulk. Just this figure from this line. Not really interested in getting that figure. Especially if I have to pay $60.00 for this figure.

Jeff Wamester Sketch (2008)

At the October Boston Comic Con my only real goal was to get some sketches from the artists there. Original art is the rarest collectible – a lot of it is one of a kind. If you love the Hulk then it’s time to get into the art of the Hulk. As much as you try to avoid it – as soon as you get one piece you start thirsting for more…
This is the first piece I got by an artist named Jeff Wamester – go here for his website – who was more than happy to sketch this Hulk for me. I friggin’ love the sketch too! It reminds me of the more monster that Lee wanted to come out when the Hulk was first created. I contacted him again through email and asked for a full commision. I will be posting it as soon as it gets here. If you like what you see contact him through email to get your own Hulk art from him. Above you will see a new page called ART. This is where I will be posting all of the original art that I have been collecting for the past month.
Hulk Bumper Sticker (1966)

Vintage Thursday! What a fun age to be a Hulk fan. Not only did he become one of the biggest superheroes ever – so we have plenty of merchandise to buy now – but we also have the pleasure of trying to collect the older items. Like this one here. The Hulk bumper sticker. “Don’t Honk – You’ll Disturb The Incredible Hulk” with an image of the Hulk taken directly off of TTA #77. I love that cover it’s taken off. Rick Jones is telling the Army that Bruce is the Hulk. Or Vice Versa. But how great is the sticker? I mean imagine driving behind someone with this sticker on their car? Even if the person was driving like a 4 foot woman I still wouldn’t honk! Just in case I really would disturb the Hulk.
