Hulk Money Clip (1979)

hulk money clip

A strange little item found on ebay.  It doesn’t have a date on it – but it is the same Hulk used for the pin I have so I’m guessing on the date here.  This, oddly, is the third money clip I own – the first being one that my wife bought me when we first met.  The second is a gift from my friend for being the best man at his wedding.  Now this one.  This, of course, is the prettiest one I own – but I won’t use it because the others mean a little more to me.  They’re just not as cool!

Wolverine #7

Why not post this right after I posted the other Wolverine comic?  This is Wolverine #7 and right after the Hulk was caught in the Gamma Bomb explosion at the end of Ground Zero everyone believed the Hulk to be dead.  Hulk was not dead.  He was Joe Fixit.  There’s a few problems with this issue where Fixit is summoned to take care of a job for Mr. B’s friend where Wolverine just happens to be.  Wolverine can distinguish the Hulk’s smell – but the strange thing here is that Wolverine remarks that he thought Hulk was dead but can tell it’s him even though he’s a different color – but Wolverine would’ve known of his color change from #340.  Contunity must be a horrible burden when faced with an entire universe within hundred’s of comics.  Some writers are better than others at it – but here they slip up just a bit.

He Hates To Sell It…

What has it been?  A whole month since we saw one of these?  Now there are 2! Right now the sale price is at $2,400 on one and $2,000 on the other – but they both still have a good amount of time left.  The top one states that Tony told him it’s worth $8,700.  If this goes for $8,700 then I will literally run down the street naked and post the pictures here.  That’s how confident I am that one of these will not sell for that much – especially on ebay.  The other has been told $7,000.  Leave a comment guessing on how much you think they will actually sell for – let’s see who gets the closest!

UPDATE: So, I woke up this morning to find that both of these auctions are now less!  The top is going for $1,000 and the other $1,800.  I think what happened is that a new ebayer with a 0 feedback bid – and for a high price item like this it’s too risky to let someone with no track record win an auction.  No one wants to be stiffed.

UPDATE 2: Well, the top auction ended at a still impressive $2,658.88.  So either you readers out there don’t want to see me naked or these things aren’t worth as much as some want you to believe…  If the prices hover around this amount – then that’s what they’re worth – not $8,700.  We’ll see what happens with the second auction.

Wolverine #144

I found this issue of Wolverine that takes place BEFORE the events in Incredible Hulk #180-#181.  I thought that was a great idea and actually was excited about reading it.  It wasn’t as interesting as I thought it would be – but still pretty cool.  And who makes an appearance?  Hercules.  That’s right, Hercules.  See, the Leader tries to collect a bunch of heroes to take out the Hulk.  Wolverine isn’t having any of it though and teams up with the other heroes to take on the Leader.  It was a fun issue that showed how Wolverine came to work for the Canadian Government and it also explains that it was Wolverine who was informed that the Hulk was in Canada in the first place, by the Leader.  The last panel is the same as the last panel in Incredible Hulk #180.  It’s not a must have but it’s worth picking up if you come across it.  B-

Hulk vs. Hercules (2008)

I finally got to read this.  I was all ready for a great fight issue – but this certainly wasn’t it.  It was a let down really.  The fight between Hulk and Herc lasted for a few panels – and the best part is when Hulk flexes his muscles and knocks Hercules off of him.  But then they join forces to beat some mythical monsters but it is Hulk who is shocked when he sees Hercules killing the monsters with such savagery.

I think this issue is more to try to promote the ever drowning Hercules series – but, for me, it really didn’t work.  I would say this was a useless 1-shot – unlike the Hulk vs. Fin Fang Foom 1-shot which was just awesome from page 1 to the last.  D+

Super Hero Squad 2 (2008)

superheor squad hulk spiderwoman

It’s interesting that they keep doing the same figures for the Superhero Squad.  Hulk here is different from the others because of ripped shirt – as well as the head.  The head is somewhat happier – the hair extra tussled!  I question who they comtinue to pair him up with though… first the Wasp – now Spiderwoman.  Did these two appear together in a comic?  If so – maybe I forgot it – maybe on purpose…

I do like the new packaging.  I like that Hulk is front and center – but the color and the heroes on the top make it a lot more eye catching.

Sorry…

I do have all sorts of cool new Hulk items to post – and when I find the time I will do it!  Check back later this week.  Until I post something new you can always enjoy the hundreds and hundreds of posts on here now!  Also, I went to Toys R Us today and found the Operation Hulk – Don’t Wake the Hulk and a few Hulk puzzles, but when I went to purchase them they said they were put out to early – the street release date is May 2nd (Friday) and couldn’t allow me to buy them.  A little agitated – but still excited to get them on Friday I will post pics of me playing the game with my niece!

I hope it stops raining soon.  I hope I will have time to post the new Hulk books, money clip, and Super Hero Squad Hulks I have found to add to the collection.  Check back like, tomorrow.  Tomorrow or Wednesday.  At the latest – Friday.  But check back tomorrow – I will most likely have something new posted.  As long as I have time.  Thanks – Ratchet.

Hulk #3 (2008)

So – I hate to pick things apart so quickly – but Loeb is making it so easy!  What I write from THIS moment will contain SPOILERS!  S o stop reading if you don’t want to know what’s happened in the new Hulk comic…

So, we begin with Iron Man assessing the damage done to the 8 billion dollar Helicarrier – no casualties (how lucky!) – and we learn that Ross, Samson and Clay Quartermain are missing in action.  They also replay the video from the first issue when Samson and Ross went to go see Banner.  We learn that Banner whispered sweet somethings to Ross – but no one knows what (how convenient) – then we get a quick catch-up on the next page reminding us that the Red Hulk is about to fight A-Bomb (who is Rick Jones).  Did we really need this catch up?  No – because A-Bomb is constantly reminding us that he is Rick – or at least hates Rick because he keeps A-Bomb in a “dark place”.  Ummm… okay… reminds me of the 70’s Hulk.  Even talks like him.

Anyways, Red Hulk and A-Bomb fight.  For a bunch of pages.  Red Hulk finds out that this Abomination is pretty indestructible.  He even finds out he’s bullet proof, cause he tries to shoot him, yes, Red Hulk uses a gun again.  The fight is so destructive it starts an earthquake that shakes the Earth to the core – deep enough to start shaking Banner’s underground cell.  As Banner gets worried the gas fills his cell to calm him down.  But Banner – being really smart – HOLDS HIS BREATH!  AND BECOMES THE HULK!  AND BREAKS OUT OF HIS CELL!  Wait, that all it took?  Banner hold his breath and Banner can just break out of his cell?  No contingency plan in case the gas didn’t work?  Apparently not.  Wow Loeb, you are genius!

At this point a bunch of robot Harpies that look just like Betty Talbot (Banner or Ross, however you want to remember her – but at the moment in Hulk history when Betty was turned into the Harpy she was still married to Glenn Talbot) start attacking the Red Hulk and A-Bomb.  They carry A-Bomb off only to have him tear it apart in the air and crash down into an explosive blaze.  Red Hulk pretty much tears apart the Harpies as well – but then turns around and finds – the pay off in the end here – the Green Hulk!  Setting up next issue for an all out brawl.

But a pretty sloppy execution of a comic I’m really trying to love!  Loeb is lazy in his writing and forgetting about his Hulk history (for example – Samson’s strength is equal to his hair length – but here Samson is still strong with a crew cut!)  I’m still waiting for it to get better – and it still hasn’t.  C+

World War Hulk Bust 2 (2008)

wwh bust var

Call me a sucker.  Go ahead.  I know I am.  I ordered the first bust I posted – choosing to get that one OVER this one.  Then I saw it in my local comic shop and just had to get it.  I’m a sucker.  But I actually think this bust might be better than the other – I really can’t decide…

The base is sure better.  I like the crumbled rock look.  But the eyes on this one look a little off.  Like a slight lazy eye – but one you’re not sure that you can menton because you might be wrong – nd make yourself look stupid.  The sculpt is pretty much the same – except both arms are down here.  If you want to look at the other one I posted – go to the Staues page – but this is #766 out of 1000

Entertainment Weekly… right now

The recent Entertainmant Weekly has updates on the Hulk movie, like – for example – it confirms the Tony Stark (Downey Jr.) will make an appearence!  That’s pretty cool.  A nice article appears – as well as a Superhero stat page where it basically says the Hulk would “whup” the other superheroes with ease!  Okay, it didn’t say that exactly – but they imply it!  In my mind they do anyways…
