Hulk Car 2-Pack (2010)

Versus 2-Pack

Here is something I should have posted when I got it – but knowing me, I forgot. I have so many things to post… and I will get to it – but the great thing about this 2-pack is that it was sent to me. Someone sent me this a while back and I meant to post it and thank them – even though I have no idea who the sender was. I have suspicions that it was Grey (am I right?) and in that case THANK YOU SO MUCH!  I have not seen this around my area so I never even knew it existed.

Hulk Car

I have a few cars to show off – slightly different – but they came in a huge 10 pack of cars and I have the Hulk and Abomination van loose.  I will post them sometime in the future… but again – whoever sent this – and I am pretty sure it was Grey – thank you!

Pak is leaving the Hulk…

I have no doubt you’ve heard already – Pak is leaving after The Incredible Hulks #635: Heart of the Monster.  Granted – I am not enjoying this latest arc – but Pak is one of the better Hulk writers to take the reins in a long time.  I would have loved to see him unconstrained to write the Hulk – but it always seems he is writing under some sort of condition… PH, although great, was the Hulk on another planet, and his return to the book was even worse – he didn’t even have a Hulk to write about!  But he did amazing with what he had – and it will be sad to see him go.  Bi-weekly, we will still be seeing Pak books for another half a year or so… so enjoy it now!  Click on the image for more info!

But notice who is coming back?  Armageddon!  That’s right – I just posted a review of the last Armageddon appearance a few weeks past – this has happened TWICE now – the first time I reviewed the Eternals issues where the robot Hulk first appeared – way before they brought him back!  It’s like I am a secret genius!  So secret that I don’t even realize!

Superhero Squad Red Hulk and Iron Man (2011)

Iron Man And Red SHS

I knew it would happen – I think we all did.  I even know there is a Red She Hulk figure to be released.  Of course, a Red Hulk figure was easier to make as they have a thousand Hulk molds to choose from.  So, why then, did they choose THIS one?  This is my least favorite SHS Hulk.  It makes the Hulk look like Quasimodo.  An even MORE deformed Quasimodo.  So… maybe it’s perfect that this figure was used for the Red Hulk!

Hulk #30.1 (2011) – The Review

Hulk 30.1

Alright, I found some time to write the review for Hulk #30.1 – Marvel is doing issues with the .1 numbers for anyone interested in jumping into reading certain series.  Hulk is lucky enough to be one of those titles.  Of course the first page they summarize the series thus far.  Of course they don’t mention that the first part of the series is pretty much a waste of time and an embarrassment to Loeb’s legacy… so I graciously added that here 🙂

Ross sees da plane! Da plane!

Anyways, Parker starts this issue with the Red Hulk being hunted down by his own airplane – and, basically, his old team of Hulk Busters being led by a spunky, two star General called Reginald Fortean.  Fortean comes out swinging blasting the Red Hulk and calling him out “High Noon” style, telling him to surrender or he will find him and kill him.  The real kick in the nuts to Red is this:  They think Red KILLED Ross!  And that’s why Fortean is so angry!  That’s kind of hilarious!

Fortean ready to fight!

Anyways, Red goes to meet Fortean at the place he is to surrender and he’s ready to battle.  He wants Fortean to have his fight – Ross respects him as a soldier.  Only Red is in deeper than he knows.  During the fight Red tries to tell Fortean that he is in fact Ross – and not to start the ultimately losing battle of trying to stop the “Hulk”.  Fortean doesn’t hear a word of it due to a malfunction in the suit he is wearing and he sets off his secret weapon.  Microbots that are in Red’s head – planted during their first meeting.  These Microbots planted micro-mines that will melt Ross’ brain should he transform back to human form.  Fortean: 1 – Ross: 0

Fortean uses tiny weapons to defeat the Hulk...

Ross is now on his own once again.  It seems like we are on a NEW era… again.  I don’t think Red will be working for Banner and Rogers anymore – and that’s good since the continuity with the 2 books is all screwy!  How did Banner have time to give Ross orders when he’s been so busy in his other book!  I remember guest shots and continuity from the old days – they made it work both in the series and in the ultimate continuity.  Today’s writers, I don’t know if it’s that they are too lazy, just don’t care, don’t think it’s important, consider it a pain – what?  I have no idea!  Maybe it’s the editor’s fault… or maybe we should blame the “Architect of Marvel” Bendis.  Either way – this issue gave me a  genuine thrill – one that gets me revved up to read where Parker is taking the series next.  Grade: A-

Hulk Glasses (2010)

Hulk Glasses!
The box art

Let me just put it out there now – I will probably not be posting for the rest of the week – I am heading out tomorrow and will be gone until Saturday.  I will not even be reading any new Hulky goodness until I come back – so don’t expect the new review until at least Sunday.  Sorry ahead of time.

Glass 1

But these glasses are freakin’ sweet!  I have to say – the image on the glass below… I am getting a bit bored with it – but the other glass is classic Trimpe!  And I want to guzzle green milk out of it!  I am not even sure which issue it is out of – but I bet one of you other Hulk maniac’s will tell me – making me feel silly.

Glass 2 - my favorite!

I’ve seen these glasses going for $12 on ebay – with $16 shipping.  I wanted these glasses BADLY – but was not about to pay that amount for them.  The $12 price is fine – but the $16 shipping?  YIKES!  Then more and more of these starting popping up on ebay – with better prices – but even better?  My mother found these in a store in FL for a very decent price OF… $6!  Biggeddy BAM!

The Incredible Hulks #624 (2011) – The Review

The Incredible Hulks #624
1:15 Variant Cover

Okay – yes this is late, yes I should have posted this last Thursday… and I could even state the reason on why the review is late – but why bother? The truth is… it’s being posted now – so read and be happy! Although, I don’t know how happy you’d be reading this – the issue is continuing to… well, unimpress. Don’t get me wrong – I still love Pak as the Hulk writer but this storyline is really letting me down… and getting down right creepy!

Hulk wants out!

Creepy because there are a few times where the Hulk is being tricked into thinking he talking to Betty, intimately… only to realize it’s another bug – or worse, Miek!  So creepy it actually sent a shiver down my spine.  There is no reason to creep Hulk fans out the way Pak does in this issue.

Hulk saves Banner's butt - as always!

The Hulk clan that is with him tried to track the Hulk down – only to catch up to him and then lose him again – but only after they see that bugs have crawled into the Hulk’s body and attached to his heart.  Even worse, Miek came and takes the Hulk away.  And we are treated to another queasy, vomit inducing moment between the Hulk and the imaginary Betty (a.k.a. Miek).  He straps on armor and sends Hulk out to battle.

Hulk... infested and ready for battle!

Now we know why the Hulk was beaten so badly by Zeus – he needed to be weaker in order for this plan of Miek’s to actually work.  The Hulk before the beat down would never have been taken this down this way.  I have to say – I was really interested in the idea of Miek’s return – but so far I am underwhelmed and VERY creeped out.  Grade: C (The steamy dream sequences are so creepy it should have gotten a D)

Out of context... this is hilarious!

Super Hero Squad Asgardian Smash 3-Pack (2011)

Thor / Hulk / Odin 3-Pack

The new Thor toys are making their way into toy stores these days.  Of course the Hulk is not going to show up too many times in anything to do with the Thor movie – but they did make this 3-pack with Thor, Hulk and Odin (Hehe – let’s thank goodness they didn’t decide to put Zeus in this 3-pack!… I know, I know – not the same mythology) but the thing that really burns me is that they used the Hulk figure they just released!  The SHS figures are released and re-released over and over again – but this figure really only looks good in one stance… and they could have SOMETHING different!  Man, that burns me!  But, yeah – this is out now…

You look familar...
Hey Hey! It's Odin!

I really hope this happens!

Yup - Fixit FS

Bowen has posted some pics on his facebook account of a digital mock-up – an early version – of a FIXIT FS!  That’s right!  A Fixit FS!  How did we get so lucky to actually have a chance to get a Fixit FS!  The colored version below was obviously not done by a Hulk fan because for some reason they colored him Green… and not Grey…

Constrictor Bust (2010)

Constrictor Bust

This Bust was picked up on my last trip to NJ – I had planned on picking this guy up eventually – but I was even more excited seeing it at Zapp Comics – where any self respecting New Jersian(… is that right?  New Jersey-an?) goes to buy their comic goodness week after week.  And if you visit the one in Wayne NJ make sure you ask if Corry is there – and if so tell him how much you like the Hulk – or even better – tell him your favorite Hulk story!  Then hug him.  He’ll love it – trust me.

Back

By the way – Constrictor is a villain that first appeared in issue #212 of the Incredible Hulk.  Most of the MU have run into the Constrictor at one time or another.  His famous weapon is the Vibranium cables he uses to choke and electrocute his opponents.  The Hulk did find a way to beat him though and as he made his way through the Marvel Universe he’s somewhat important enough to garner a bust, a MU figure (which I already posted) but why couldn’t that have happened to a better character – like Aquon!

What If? #78 (1995) – The Review

What If #78

So, here’s the deal.  The Fantastic Four was captured by a Skrull Queen and then hired a new group of 4 – those heroes being the Hulk, Ghost Rider, Spiderman and Wolverine.  Now, anyone hiring these 4 mis-fits to be a team should already be suspect – but they went along with it anyways.  In this What If?  it examines how the events might have unfolded had the real FF died in their fight to come back.

MJ gives Peter some "hard" thinking to do...

The issue starts out on a pretty high note as the new team begins by moving into the Baxter Building (MJ even gives a little fashion show) and they dispatch all of their new foes pretty easily.  The world starts to notice this new FF.  Even the heroes old foes start coming out in force but are easily taken down by the quartet.

The Sininster Six? More like the S.. the Sapp.. no - Stupid Six! Yeah! Good one!

The real problems start when the most powerful foes of each hero start coming out of the woodwork and gang up together.  While the team is distracted by paperwork the Baxter Building is infiltrated.  Lady Death Strike and Abomination come bursting through the wall looking for a fight.  Two other powerhouses – one looks to be a skrull – and honestly, I am not sure who the other is (if anyone out there does know – let me in on it!) come knocking, looking to destroy as well.  These enemies seem to be too much for the new FF to handle.

Fixit uses him charm... to no avail...

As each hero is taken out and all looks lost and MJ even sits with Peter on the floor given up all hope – all of a sudden a blast comes through the wall and disintegrates the foes.  It is Doctor Doom.  He tells the FF that no one destroys them – except him.  And then he flies away.

Doom Saves the Day... kind of

This issue has me confused on why the heroes had such a hard time taking on their old enemies?  I mean, Wolverine was doing fine against Abomination – but the Hulk was having a heck of a time with Lady Death Strike!  And he was blasted out of the building… TWICE!  I wasn’t a huge fan of the issue – but it’s fun to think that Marvel would kill off any of the Fantastic Four… of wait… Grade: C

Red Hulk Key Chain (2010)

Red Hulk Key chain

A simple piece here – but this is a re-paint of the green Hulk key chain that was released a while back – part of the MU line.  The unfortunate part of this collectible is that it is in a multi pack with 6 or 7 other characters.  I was lucky enough to have a friend who purchased one of these and gave me the Red Hulk.  I think he meant it as a cruel joke – but if I saw this in the store first I would have totally bought it.

Hulk Shirt #24 (2011)

New Hulk Shirt - Hope you're watching the Oscar's though...

Watching the Oscars – so I am going to make this real quick – here is a new Hulk Shirt I found at a LCS.  I think the art looks familiar but I am not exactly sure who it is.  I want to say Keown – but man – I could be wrong… who can help me out here?  Sorry – getting back to the Oscars now!

Also on the Stands…

Issue #587 - 1st and 2nd printing

So, the 2nd printing of FF #587 came out – the comic also known as “The Torch gets blown… out.”  I was flipping through the issue and inside I was surprised to find a few panels of… MAESTRO!  The freakin’ Maestro! – So pick that up and of course the poly-bagged 1st printing and the variant.

The Final Issue... LOL - Good one Marvel... the final issue until it comes back.

Also – Issue #588 has a very tender moment between the Thing and Hulk.  Made me feel all misty eyed.  Or that might have been the mace that this hottie sprayed in my eyes after I wouldn’t stop trying to convince her how sensitive I am.

Hulk, Thor, Thing 3-way... get your mind out of the gutter!
