Marvel Zombies #3 & #1 (Variant)(2006)

 Zombie Hulk 1

These are 2 covers from the mini-series, Marvel Zombies.  I like the cover to #3 especially – the take on Incredible Hulk #340.  The best part, I think, are the eye balls that are stuffed into Hulk’s mouth.  How great, that these two enemies – even as decomposing, flesh eating zombies – still have time to fight each other.

Also – underneath is the take on Incredible Hulk #1.

Zombie Hulk 2

Marvel Legends 1st Appearance Hulk (2006)

Legends 2

This figure had 2 versions right away (although – I don’t know why – the 1st appearance Hulk should be grey)  But I do like when they make a new head mold for a variant figure.  Besides we get to see Hulks winning smile.  I love the way these figures look.  I found the green – but my friend Corry found the grey variant for me.  Thanks!  They come with a reproduction of Incredible Hulk #1.  Nice.

Ultimate Hulk (2003)

 Ultimate Hulk

I’m not a big Ulitimates fan.  I did read where Banner leveled the team in order to stop Betty from going out with Freddie Prinze Jr., seemed kind of silly to me.  But the figure – is awesome!  One of the coolest expressions of any Hulk figure – they made him with a smirk – not just a smirk – but a cocky smirk!  That is so cool.  I think it’s amazing that this cool of a figure came out of a “ultimately” forgettable comic.  Picked him up at the Newbury Comics (man, I give those guys alot of business) in Kingston

Tee-hee!  Get it?  Ultimates – Ultimately? Oh – screw you, that was funny.

Johnny Lightning Hulk Chevy Tahoe (2003)

Car 1

The Tahoe displays an image from McFarlane’s cover to # 345.  An absolute Awesome image that really deserves a cooler car.  I have a few cars in my collection – but generally try to pick up only very unique or very amazing looking pieces.  Luckily when you are obsessed with something you start to get items as gifts.  I think my friend Corry bought this for me.

Incredible Hulk Smash and Crash (1997)

Smash and Crash

I can still remember waking up on Saturday mornings just to watch the Hulk cartoon on UPN.  It may sound normal – but did I mention I was 21 when it was on?  Anyway, the two Hulk lines that came out from the animated show were “Smash and Crash” and “Outcasts”.  I will post the “Outcasts” line later – but here is the “Smash and Crash” line.

The Leader once had a weird red liquid in his head – but over time it seems to have drained from his head and dissapeared all together.  Should I be worried about that?

Zzzax is the other villan included in this set.  He made an appearence in the show – and Hulk beat him by throwing him into water.  Y’know – because he’s electric.  You can see a bit of fading on the Hulk on the bottom and the Leader cards.  This is how badly the sun hates your toys.  Keep them safe! These figures served their purpose.  They aren’t the best out there – but they are cool enough that Hulk collectors out there should rush to get them!

Marvel Legends Series 1 & 2 (2002)

 Marvel Legends Series 1

Here are the first 2 Hulk figures from the Marvel Legends series.  Series 2 was the same figures in different clothing – as you can tell they gave Hulk a shirt that they found at Building 19.  All ripped and stuff.  I think they did this to cover Hulk’s sexy chest.  Of course I could be wrong.  These figures were cool but the Hulk figures got better as the series went on – as you will see!

The shirtless Hulk also has a rare variant that I don’t own – one where his hands are bendy, soft plastic.  The Hulk that you see has hinges on his fingers to make them bend.

Also – these figures come with a copy of Incredible Hulk #314.

The Incredible Hulk #354 (1989)

 Purves Hulk

Peter David was one of the greatest writers for the Hulk – maybe it was because he did it for 12 years.  He came up with the incarntion of Mr. Fixit – and even though the Hulk has seen his share of great artists – Jeff Purves was one of my favorites.  He only had a small run on the Hulk – and he got better the more comics he did.  This is one of the most fun stories with Hulk taking on 12 “persuaders”.  The entire town goes buzzing about Fixit beating the men – and the bets start swaying in his favor soon after he throws the first one through the wall.  Purves style was very unique and he truly had his own vision of what the Hulk looked like.  The money shot in this issue comes at the end where the last “persuader” comes out of the room and then falls flat on the ground.  This is one of my favorite covers ever.

Alex Ross mini-bust (2005)

 Ross Bust

This is a mini bust of an extremely pissed Hulk.  I like how they have a little name plate on the front so that people won’t get confused to who it is.  Like there are people out there seeing this and saying “Boy, Kermit the Frog sure is angry about something”.  Nonetheless, I do like this piece, #296 out of 3000, and think this is a must have for any Hulk collector.  It’s small, affordable, and is an awesome representation of our favorite Green Goliath.  I picked this up at the same time as I picked up the Sam Keith bust – at the Newbury Comics in Boston.

Hulk Pins Collection

Hulk Pins

The pins at the top are all the incarnations of the Hulk.  They came out in 1990 – as well as the 2 in the middle that re-create McFarlane scenes.  I got these from Rubber Chicken Comics when it was still located in Milford.  I think it’s in Franklin now, if not, it’s right over the line.  The Universal Studio’s pin is from 1999 when I went on the Hulk Ride.  The other two are the oldest of this set that I have.  The small circular one at the bottom is from 1978 and I found that at a Flea Market.  The last I got off ebay.  My favorite is the pin where Grey Hulk is jumping through the air and you can see the moon behind him.

Mego 6″ Hulk (1974)

Mego Hulk 1974

This is the 6″ mego figure I told you about earlier.  If you look close, this figure has an actual nut and bolt in it’s arm to keep it together.  I got him that way – it is not something I did to him.  I don’t mind – I think it gives him character.  Like he’s 1/8th bionic or something.  According to his ass – where the copyright info. is – he came out 4 years before is 12″ counterpart.  I think I wrote counter-point in an earlier blog when I meant counterpart.  Ignore that.  I like this piece but do keep my eye out for an affordable one still on the card.

Bowen Hulk Bust (1998)

 Hulk Bowen

This is one of the first pieces I bought.  Namely because, in 1998, I actually had a job that I made enough money where I could start spending it frivolously.  I think this bust captures the Hulk’s expression perfectly.  He’s not mad – but he is pissed.  Probably for no reason – probably because everyone is out to get him.  Doesn’t matter – look at those abs!  This is #637 out of 3000.  I never seen this bust around anymore.  Looks like everyone who owns it are the people who want to keep it, not the sellers trying to take advantage of people like me who are obsessed.  Damn you people!

Hulk Kazoo (1979)

Hulk Kazoo

This is one of those pieces that you never go out intentionally looking for – it’s one that you just come across and think – “why not?”  I found this on ebay – I don’t usually try to buy things off ebay – I like to try to find it in person – it’s more of a challenge that way. But I saw this piece and had never seen it before – not to mention it was really cheap – so I picked it up without another bidder even trying for it.

My favorite part of this piece is right after it says “Hulk Hum and Play Kazoo” it also says “Non-Toxic”  Wait!  Are you telling me that there are a bunch of TOXIC Kazoos out there?  Holy Mackeral!  What a scary thought!  Thank goodness they had the right frame of mind here – making the Hulk Kazoo with NON-TOXIC materials.  I also like how they tried to make it look like the Hulk is dancing on the package – but he still has an angry expression.

Mighty Marvel Spring Action Jiggleheads (2003)

jiggle hulk

I came across this really funky action figure in Brockton at the New England Comics.  It’s head and arms are set on springs and jiggle around when you shake it.  I have never seen another person with a figure like this – so as you can imagine – it is one of my favorite pieces that I own.  It’s not a very good looking figure – but it gets points for originality.

Bowen Hulk Statue (Grey version)(2002)

Hulk 2002

This might be the rarest piece I have.  Bowen Sculptures are the only statues that seem to gain in value – and this piece (#636 out of 1000) has a green counter point – that I do not own.  I paid alot of money for this one – I couldn’t justify shelling out another couple hundred for the green version.  I’d rather have the grey version (although it says “gray version” on the bottom – but I like “grey” – looks much classier) because most of the busts and statues I own are the green versions.  This piece is so beautifully sculpted right down to the yellowing teeth and the bulging veins that are popping right out of his skin.  Since the Hulk started out grey in the comics I like to think that this version is from based on that era.

Hulk 2002 2

Mr. Fixit (1996)

Fixit 1996

In 1996, The Incredible Hulk had a great cartoon on the now defunct UPN, and with that show came a couple of toy lines – this being part of the “Incredible Hulk” line – there is also a “Transformations” line.  This figure is of “Mr. Fixit”.  When the Hulk was caught in an explosion at the hands of The Leader at the end of “Ground Zero” Hulk relocated to Las Vegas and became Mr. B’s #1 man.  He was the most angry version of the Hulk – but, in my opinion, also the most fun to watch.  This figure, at the time, was the best looking figure of the line and a very rare peek at Fixit.  As you can tell – seeing as they don’t even mention Mr. Fixit – the package just says “Grey Hulk Battle Damaged”.  Notice the bullet hole in the tie?  The figure also comes with a pretty obnoxious gun – which Fixit never used (seeing as he was bullet proof) but the snazzy hat makes up for it.
